APB: Seeking All Former UH Football Players
The Na Koa Football Club has initiated efforts to collect records of all football players since the beginning of the program in 1909. According to the UH Athletic Department, records of players from 1909 until 1967 were not retained and those players are not recognized in the record books as lettermen. Na Koa would like to remedy this for the football program.
If we can show that someone was on the roster for these “lost” years, the UH Athletics Department has agreed to include him on the listing of the Letterwinners on the UH Athletics website as well as in next years media guide.
Under the leadership of Mike Biscotti, former player and Na Koa Board member, we’ve begun the information gathering process. But, we need your help. Please send us any clippings, programs (copies are acceptable), or team rosters that can help us identify players between 1909 and 1967. If you also have contact information for the player or for a close relative that would also be helpful to us so that we can award the actual letter once participation has been verified.
So please talk to your brothers, grandfathers, uncles and friends and see if you can’t help us to honor all former football players!
Please mail your items to Na Koa Football Club, 1337 Lower Campus Road, Honolulu, HI 96822. You can also e-mail any scanned items to Joyce Lau at Joyce@NaKoa.org. Please note that we will not be able to return any items sent to us. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
