Many thanks to the over 300 people who attended the 6th annual Warrior Football Camp Scholarship held on 26 June at the Honolulu Country Club. The evening was organized by Al Chee and Carina Tagupa of Chevron USA and raised approximately $70,000, surpassing last year’s achievement.  Almost half the proceeds were raised by the silent auction which featured memorabilia from professional sports teams and players, specialty wines, Oakley goods, electronics, and vacation packages.  Music was provided by Imua with a special appearance by Frank DeLima..

Coach Chow and the coordinators (Thom Kaumeyer, Tommy Lee, and Chris Demarest) each spent some time sharing information about the upcoming season and current and incoming players; all emphasizing that the team would be playing hard and representing the University of Hawaii and the State to the best of their ability. Coach Chow even shared a small piece of “inside info” that fans are sure to learn in the next few days.

In closing, Coach Chow shared a story about a military father who expressed his thanks for keeping the camps affordable as he registered his three young sons for the youth camp. His unit was being shipped out to Afghanistan early but he was able to afford to bring them to this camp (not to worry… the fee was waived for his boys). And, Coach Demarest shared a story about two brothers who were able to come to all of the camps since they were so affordable!  Won’t you be a part of a great story like this next year?
