Na Koa Announcements
The 4th Annual Hawaii Football Scholarship Dinner is set for July 9, 2010

Due to the increased interest from sponsors, we are moving the event location to the Honolulu Country Club. As in the past, the event will be a fun filled opportunity to meet up front and personally with Coach Greg McMackin and the UH football staff. Once again, several former UH and NFL players will be present in support of the program and will be on hand to sign autographs. An expanded silent auction will again feature UH, NFL football and sports memorabilia, travel, golf, hotel and event ticket packages, dinner certificates and many other great items.

Your generous contribution to this event will directly support UH football by funding summer school scholarships for UH football scholarship student-athletes. Summer school is a vital off-season activity that allows the program to keep our athletes on track to earn their degrees while staying in the islands to continue their off-season workouts as a team.

Summer School Is In Session For Warriors

Punter Alex Dunnachie made the long trip home to Australia for his summer break, but every other scholarship player on the team roster is attending summer school at University of Hawaii-Manoa thanks to the support of Na Koa members. Na Koa pays for the players' summer school tuition. By taking advantage of summer session, the players' grades and graduation stats are steadily improving.

Go Warriors!

Alvin Katahara Named Executive Director for Na Koa
The University of Hawai‘i Football Club, Na Koa, has named Alvin Katahara its new Executive Director. Katahara will coordinate the booster club’s membership drive and fundraising activities that supplement the operational budget of the Warrior football program.

16th Annual Ed Wong Memorial Golf Tournament
With an 11AM shotgun start, 252 supporters of University of Hawaii Warrior Football teed off at Na Koa’s annual golf tournament fundraiser.

The field was well-represented by corporate sponsors, individual supporters, coaches, former players – even some very respectable golfers managed to make the cut for this sold-out April 13th tournament held at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course.

But golf was simply the back drop for Na Koa’s plan to give participants a day of fun, great food, and prizes in exchange for an outpouring of support for Warrior football.

Funds raised by Na Koa are used to pay for the players’ summer school tuition, food for the team’s training table, equipment, supplies and in general resources that support the football program.

Na Koa Recruiting Event Report

The player will show in this paragraph

Warrior Head Coach, Greg McMackin declared this year’s football recruiting class a success as the recruits who signed on the first letter of intent day “met our needs to complement our returning starters.

“We have 17 returning starters who are very young, so there are several who could start right away.” McMackin said this was the best recruiting class since he has been here. “Every player we recruited was recruited by BCS schools.”

Athletic Director Jim Donovan said McMackin impressed him with a grid showing each position by the players’ year in school. That grid immediately revealed the needs were going to be needed when.
