In Memory of Alexander "Alec" C. Waterhouse, Sr.
An
enthusiastic spporter of the University of Hawaii's Athletic Program,
Alec Waterhouse was one of the original founders and Chairman of the Na Koa
Football Club. He was also an original member of the Koa Anuenue and its Board
of Directors. He gave generously to the University of Hawaii's Athletic
Program and will be remembered for the substantial contribution he made to
the University of Hawaii to equip a first-class, state-of-the-art weight training
facility that today bears his name -- The Alexander C. Waterhouse Physiology
Research and Training Facility. The 10,000 square-foot facility contains the
best strength and conditioning equipment available in the country and allows
student athletes the opportunity to train year-round.
In 1997, Alec Waterhouse was inducted in the UH Circle of Honor for his substantial
contributions, time and resources in support of Hawaii teams, coaches and staff
members.
Today, the Na Koa Football Club has an ever-increasing membership base. Through
annual fundraising events, it is able to ensure that the student-athletes get
proper nutrition through the school year-round training table; academic tutorial
services; purchase of custom fitted knee braces for linemen; relocation allowances
for new coaches and the annual awards banquet which immediately follows the
football season and gives recognition to the student athletes.
