The late Edwin S.N. Wong (BA '51) was chair, president and chief executive
officer of Waterhouse, Inc. During his successful business career, Wong never
forgot his alma mater. As a longtime supporter of UH Athletics, he and the
late Alexander Waterhouse founded the official football booster club, Na Koa.
Without Na Koa, athletics would have experienced shortfalls in many programs.
Wong posthumously received the Scotty Schuman Award from the Honolulu Quarterback
Club in 2001.
Wong also served the University in other capacities - past chair of UH Foundation
Board of Trustees, member of the Executive Committee and Advisory Board for
the School of Travel Industry Management, member of the University of Hawai'i
President's Club and life member of the UH Alumni Association. Wong posthumously
received the UH Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001.
Wong was an active community supporter. He served as chair of the board of
the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, chair of the Blood Bank of Hawai'i,
chair and life member of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i, and chair and
life member of the Hawai'i Visitors Bureau.
