Aloha Nā Koa members!

It seems like we were just ringing in the new year and now we find ourselves a short five months away from the start of the 2021 season! There is much work to be done to get ready for competition while continuing to stay safe and healthy as we hopefully near the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your Warriors are working hard in the classroom. Education continues to be the top priority: maintaining and improving upon the 3.0+ GPA achieved in 2020 and graduating players on time.

The team is also working out five days a week to get ready for the start of spring football. As mentioned previously, the team is divided into small groups to ensure social distancing and to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. They alternate between the weight room and being on the field doing drills. The focus of these training sessions is to further develop speed and explosive power and are led by Coach Kody Cooke, who uses his ten years of experience and education to help our Warriors be faster and stronger every day.

We have had a few changes on the coaching staff and are working hard to interview candidates and find the right people to join our team. The fit with our team, UH, and Hawai‘i is important for them to be successful here and help our team win championships. We plan to have all the positions filled before the start of spring practice which starts on Tuesday, March 23rd (and runs through April 24th).

Work on preparing the TC Ching field for competition in the fall continues and we are excited about being able to play on the UH campus and in front of our fans again. We appreciate your past support and hope you will continue to be as generous as you can be going forward. Please support our annual Ed Wong Memorial golf tournament (visit nakoa.org for more information on the in-person and virtual tournaments) and look for membership renewal information soon.

Take care, stay safe, and Win Every Day!
