The annual Meet the Coach fundraiser on Kauai was held on June 23, 2016 at the Kauai Community College Fine Dining Room and was organized by Mark Oyama of Mark’s Place and Contemporary Flavors Catering. Head Coach Nick Rolovich and his entire coaching staff was on hand to meet the over 100 Kauai fans in attendance for a fun night of food, drinks, door prizes, and a question and answer segment with master of ceremonies Dickie Chang. Also in attendance was the honorable Mayor Bernard Carvalho, a 1983 UH football alum, along with other former players, Dick Ueoka (1955) and Jett Jasper (2011).
Dave Hinazumi of Grove Farms and his committee also coordinated additional fundraising activities culminating with the Meet the Coach event. They held a BBQ cookout at Omao Ranch Lands Wednesday night and nine holes of golf at Puakea Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. The coaches manned food stations at several different holes serving up Mojitos, sushi, and hamburger sliders while Coach Rolo was at Hole 6 hitting a closest to the pin competition.
